Students develop an understanding of the methods by which legal decisions are formulated as they affect both individual rights and business transactions.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a familiarity with the essential elements of American law and the legal issues and challenges involved in business and in particular, tort, contract, agency and corporate governance.
  2. Demonstrate students' capacity to work effectively in groups through team presentations.
  3. Examine the interplay between ethics and law in business.
  4. Focusing on the evolution of Jurisdiction and Tort law, develop a perspective on how the law adapts to social, economic, political and technological change.
  5. Obtain an appreciation for the growing importance of intellectual property law (patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets).
