Following an in-depth analysis of corporate ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) ratings and impact measurement, students will create a Sustainable Investment Portfolio using these tools and risk/return analysis.Via hands-on involvement in an energy transformation project, students will gain key knowledge about locally based sustainability initiatives and their sources of financing.Students will also research, analyze and critique other prominent Sustainable Finance areas such as Micro Finance, Carbon Trading Schemes and Islamic Finance.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the main sustainable investment vehicles: socially responsible investing, shareholder activism, green bonds, micro finance, and impact investing
  2. Work collaboratively to access ESG/impact measurement of corporations as part of a sustainable portfolio exercise 
  3. Examine and analyze, in an in-depth manner: (1) the evolution of the Micro Finance sector and linkages to Impact Investing and Understand the structure of the carbon trading schemes and other related means of reducing GHG emissions 
  4. Based on individual, in-depth research, students analyze, critically evaluate and present prominent issues related to a course topic(s)
