This course aims to decentralise and de-hierarchise existing notions of fashion by exploring a number of fashion systems – past and present. While we take our location, Paris, as a starting point for our experiential exploration of the professional field of fashion, we will move beyond the myth.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop and evidence your understanding of the complexity of the contemporary fashion system in its global dimensions
  2. Develop and demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the process of fashion and the fashion chain 
  3. Research and analyse, discuss and write critically and independently about the subject specialism of Paris fashion, globalisation in fashion and design, and a globalised fashion system 
  4. Develop transferable skills with regards to qualitative research, visual and textual analysis, critical thinking, writing and presenting
