The aim of the course is to improve and widen the listening, speaking and writing skills of those taking it, consolidating their knowledge of the full range of basic grammatical structures and broadening their general range of vocabulary. By the end of the course, students should have reached approximately the level A2 standard on the Common European Framework References for Languages

Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will be able to understand simple and clear audio documents (announcements, messages) relating to their immediate environment (family, friends, work)
  2. Students will be able to understand short texts about social activities, general biographies, announcements and very short articles
  3. Students can write an email to talk about a past / future experience or event by commenting on them (travel, vacation, studies) or accept / decline an invitation
  4. Students will be able to talk about their origins, talk about a past or future experience or event by giving their brief impressions (childhood memory, holidays, etc.) and interact on topics that are familiar or of personal interest (hobbies, outings, trips, etc.)
  5. Local and Global Perspectives: Students will enhance their intercultural understanding of languages, cultures, and histories of local societies and the global issues to which these relate (CCI LO1)
  6. Aesthetic Inquiry and Creative Expression: Students will engage with artistic or creative objects (e.g., visual art, theatrical works, film) in different media and from a range of cultural traditions (CCI LO2)
