Scholarships and Financial Aid for Undergraduate Students

The American University of Paris offers several types of scholarships and financial aid to eligible undergraduate students. Scholarships are based on a student’s profile and background, they are not based on financial need. AUP will automatically consider students for scholarships once they’ve been admitted to the University. Financial Aid also considers financial need in calculating an award. Students must request and complete a financial aid application to be considered for financial aid awards.

Scholarship Awards

Two different types of scholarships can be offered to undergraduate students – the Global Citizen Scholarship and the IB Scholarship.

  • Global Citizen Scholarships range from €1,000 to €5,000 per academic year and are awarded based on a student’s profile. Academics, international perspective, languages and other facets of experience and interest that suggest a strong “match” to AUP’s academic and experiential offerings are considered. No application is necessary; all applicants are automatically considered for this award. This scholarship is renewed every year toward the completion of the bachelor’s degree as long as the student remains full-time with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

  • IB Scholarships recognize that International Baccalaureate students thrive in AUP’s interdisciplinary curriculum and its internationally diverse community of students and faculty. IB scholarships are awarded automatically based on the official IB diploma score – no application is necessary. These scholarships range from €5,000 to €20,000 per year, and are renewed annually as long as the student is full-time, and bachelor degree seeking with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Financial Aid Awards

Two different types of financial aid awards are available to AUP undergraduate students – AUP Tuition Awards and AUP Scholar Awards.

  • AUP Tuition Awards cover up to 50% of tuition and are based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need. To be considered for an AUP tuition grant, an application for financial aid must be submitted. American citizens and permanent U.S. residents must also file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The U.S. Department of Education number for The American University of Paris is G07881. Tuition grants can be renewed annually by full-time, degree-seeking, bachelor’s degree students maintaining at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • AUP Scholar Awards recognize students with outstanding academics and a profile that suggests the potential to be a leader and excel in AUP’s diverse, international community. AUP Scholars receive a total award package of 75 percent of tuition. Beyond excellent academics, students receiving this award will have a global perspective, interest and ability in language, significant extracurricular activities and community involvement, and demonstrated financial need. Students who submit a financial aid application are automatically considered for this award. The 75% tuition award is renewed each year of full-time studies toward the bachelor’s degree for students maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 along with involvement in the AUP community.
