All graduate students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 to be in good academic standing at the University. Students with a GPA less than 3.00 will be placed on probation. 

Graduate students are dismissed if: 

  • They would be placed on probation a second semester in a row; 
  • They have a GPA less than 2.70; or 
  • They have earned a third grade of “C+” or lower. 

Dismissed graduate students can appeal the dismissal by a written petition addressed to the Registrar. 

 

Who is affected by this policy: Undergraduate and graduate students.

Responsibilities: 

The Office of the Registrar is responsible for providing a list of students whose GPAs fall below the stated cut-offs, and for notifying students who have been put on probation or dismissed.

Definitions: 

GPA (Grade Point Average) – a weighted-average of all student grades earned at AUP.
